Sharing a Meal
Tim McDonald
New York City is a melting pot for you to reach out to people. I was in the city with my wife Lynn and daughter Madison for my daughter’s birthday. We had a great day and were on our way back to the car. We stopped at a McDonalds to use the restroom and get something to eat before driving home. Lynn asked me what I wanted and I said a salad but I wasn't really hungry.
Madison and I went upstairs to get a seat. Lynn brought the food up and I just stared at it not really wanting to eat it. I was trying to think what I was going to do and made the decision just to take it home. Just then I saw a young man walk into the restaurant. When I looked at him there wasn't anything obvious about him that said he was homeless, but I perceived he was hungry and without a home. I felt compelled to give him my food.
I walked up to him and asked if he was hungry and if he wanted my food. He said yes quickly like he hadn't eaten in days. I went to sit down but soon got up to bless him with money. I saw he had a cross on and we talked about his faith and then I just spoke a blessing over him and sat back down.
The thing that blessed me the most was Madison started to ask me questions about why I did what I did. I could see she was feeling the love of Jesus in us and through us to others. It was fun!
