How to be a Wise Witness
Have you ever struggled with sharing your faith? When it comes to sharing our faith, one thing we all need is wisdom! “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30)
As a review from this past week, here are four wise ways we can be a witness for Christ:
ASK Meaningful Questions - When we ask meaningful questions we learn about what others believe. It gives us an opportunity to love by listening. It also gives us the "right" to be heard. So by asking meaningful questions and listening attentively, others become open to hear what we have to say.
CARE for the needs of others - As Christians, we are called to live a life of compassion towards our neighbors. Compassion starts in the heart. To be compassionate for others means to consider ourselves in their own predicament, seeing their future as our own and empathizing with them.
TELL the story - Sharing what God has done in your life is a powerful witness. It shows others that God still works and gives them hope for their own life. It can take courage to share your faith, but remember, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord" (2 Timothy 1:7-8b)
SHOW people what God looks like - The gospel message is not just one of words, but of love and power. (1 Corinthians 2:4) Showing people what God looks like may mean praying for others, giving generously, loving deeply and doing the work of God. Remember, our message is not just one of words, but of deeds. (James 2:15-17, Acts 4:29-30,1 John 3:18, Hebrews 2:4)
This week, look for opportunities to ask meaningful questions, care for the needs of others, tell the story of God's love and show people what God looks like. As you do, we'd love to hear from you to know what God has done in and through your life. I'm praying for you!
